Jan I am so very sorry you missed the second event, thank goodness, though I truly doubt you would travel anywhere without basic remedies, you were able to feel held and calmed by lavender.

I too am a great believer in lavender, I always have a bottle of essential oil with me, my go-to cure all which never fails to bring calm and healing.

I have to tell you a true story...

When we first arrived in Ireland, too many eons ago now, my husband often suffered the most terrible, debilitating migraines. I felt powerless to help him. I will just add here he couldn't abide the scent of lavender (memories of childhood I cannot repeat) but one night when he was in so much pain I thought I would have to call the emergency services, I asked him if he would allow me to try a remedy which included lavender, I expected him to say no but either the delirium of pain was causing confusion or it was so acute he was prepared to try anything - either were probable - because he said yes.

I prepared a cold lavender compress for his forehead and a hot compress of marjoram for the back of his neck. I administered this periodically over one hour, then repeated after another hour had passed. By the fourth hour his migraine had gone.

But the strangest thing, or perhaps not, he has never ever had another migraine since. Not even a blinding headache, which most of us suffer from time to time...

So yes to Lavender! xx

I’ve always loved lavender. And now I feel I’m in good company.

Thank you so much for teaching me a lot about lavender that I didn’t know. And as you know, we share the autoimmune challenge and the need to reduce inflammation. So how lucky I am to have connected with you and learned it might be useful in that regard. 🪻💕

Also, I’m now intrigued to learn about Hawthorne, which I know very little about.

And most mostly, I love that lavender helped you feel held, dear friend.

Thank you, Holly.

Lavender is gently cooling which is often helpful for inflammation.

Jan, lavender has always been my go to as well. When I worked at the pharmacy, (I am a naturopath and found a pharmacy who hired me with open arms!), my co-workers would come to me in need, my go-to remedy was almost always lavender! Eventually they, too, would ‘joke that whatever ailed, the answer’ from me would be lavender ! My children also knew.

My older sister had been using lavender oil for years, so when I was visiting her, and found out some life changing news about myself (I had been adopted into this family and never knew), beautiful, grounding lavender helped me to come back to my center. “Lavender was there to hold me, to protect me.” A few drops of the essential oil on my solar plexus still helps when needed!

I have it in my garden, I use it in herbal teas, as cut flowers in my home, and so much more. Thank you Jan for sharing about lavender so others can learn of its amazing qualities. Happy Sunday, Jan, take care.

Lavender always reminds me of my granny. She grew it in her garden and I remember rubbing my hands against it and the smell lingering on my fingers.

Lavender’s blue was a song I always sang to my children while rocking them in my arms. Another favourite: You are the sunshine of my life. The one they all remember most is, close to you by the carpenters.

Happy memories.

Take care, Jan xx
